Medical training in Losone TI, Switzerland
For my mandatory military service as a Swiss citizen, I served in the Swiss Army as a Unit Medic within a Military Police detachment, where I underwent extensive training in both tactical police operations and military emergency medicine.
My service began in Sion, where I completed basic military police training. During this phase, we were trained in:
Use of force and arrest techniques
Night operation (use of night vision & stealth)
Guard duty
Weapons training on the Glock 17, SIG SG550 service rifle and with a baton
Other tools such as PAVA
This foundational training focused on discipline, team coordination, and the ability to perform under pressure.
I was then transferred to Losone in Ticino, where I trained full-time in my specialty as a unit medic. Our medical training covered both everyday injuries and combat-specific trauma, including:
Bullet wounds and internal bleeding
Tourniquet application
Use of chest seals
Mass casualty triage protocols
IV perfusions, dosage of medication (in stressful situations)
Managing nasopharyngeal airways
CPR
This phase prepared me to act quickly and decisively in life-threatening situations, with a strong focus on field readiness and emergency response under pressure.
After completing medic training, I reintegrated into a Military Police company stationed in Chamblon. Here, I joined a grenadier company as a unit medic, where my responsibilities expanded to include tactical field support. I received further training in:
Close Quarters Battle (CQB) techniques
VIP extraction
Checkpoints
Firearms handling on the SG553 and MP5
Serving as a Military Police Unit Medic taught me how to stay calm under pressure, act fast in critical situations, and support a high-functioning team. The experience built both physical resilience and a deep sense of responsibility. These skills continue to influence how I approach work and leadership today.
